Our school board has endorsed an opportunity for our members to use your talents for the benefit of the precious souls in our Lutheran elementary school. Empowered by God’s Word, St. Peter’s Lutheran School assists families in EDUCATING their children, EQUIPPING them for LIFE and ETERNITY. Our school was founded on that promise. This opportunity will aid in that educational pursuit.
This volunteer program is designed to assist our students in a wide variety of areas. These assistants are not taking the place of our teachers, but can serve as an extra set of hands, eyes, ears…to make our educational program the best it can be. Assistants do not need any extensive training. A caring, patient attitude is the only prerequisite.
We hope as you read about these areas of need that the Holy Spirit will motivate you to use your time to His service and for His glory.
Areas Where You Can Help
- Assistance in preparation of materials for class: art, photocopy worksheets, typing.
- Assist in improving classroom appearance and use: bulletin boards, decorations, cleaning (Many may not realize that the only regular cleaning that takes place is a once-a-week vacuuming of the carpet. The teachers are expected to clean the desktops, dust, vacuum and scrub the coat room floors.)
- Reduce paperwork which allows for more class preparation time: correct worksheets, give and correct spelling tests.
- Assist with lunch and/or recess duty: during recess there can be 45+ children outside under the supervision of one teacher.
- Donate cleaning supplies: each classroom needs to be equipped with anti-bacterial wipes, glass cleaner, a vacuum, Lysol…
Any time you can give, whether it be weekly, monthly…is appreciated! If you can not serve at the school, but would like to assist from home, opportunities exist there as well. Many projects can be completed at home or at the school in the evenings.
